Always having been in touch with art & aesthetics Berit, owner and founder of studio okkar, has been inspired by nature as well as the rural, urban city life. Growing up close to Viennas city center but just right outside, surrounded by vineyards & nature these impacts also reflect onto her works, whether ceramics or paintings. Combining natures calmness both in shape or color with bold city aesthetics is always a challenge she's willing to take.

After working as a graphic designer & illustrator she felt the urge to go back to the roots, using the hands, work offline and since being crafty, even going on pottery-vacations with her mother, has been a part of her since the early childhood it only felt natural to her. And now? Using her hands and feeling the touch of the materials is imminent to her way of working.

Her works mirror both this conflict yet collaboration between graphic, straight shapes & bold colors and a calm softness. It's not only meant to function in its form but also reflect the pleasure of her intuitive work process.

Coming from a home full of art, warmth and light yet modern elements to it, she's got it from her mother. Walking on the edge between modern and colorful, yet calm and comfortable she's also implementing this into her home and life in general. Being a mother. Being an artist. A teacher. An entrepreneur. It all need a lot of balancing. It's all contrasts. Yet it's harmony to her.
