SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability starts with responsible and mindful choices when it comes to packaging, products and materials. Our mission here at House of Auster is to act as sustainable as possible in order to minimize waste and pollution.

Our philosophy
is buy less but better and every HOUSE OF AUSTER
piece, may it be furniture or fashion,
is made to last for generations.

We believe in emotional retailing as an important tool for a more sustainable lifestyle. At House of Auster we tell the stories behind each product, why we picked it, who made it, what makes it special. These stories ultimately lead to a special connection with a product and therefore a deeper value. If you cherish a product and its quality you'll hold on to it for a very long time and this, in our eyes, is a modern aspect of sustainability and how to approach consumerism.

NATURAL MATERIALS

We focus on offering natural materials such as wood, stone, glass, clay, wool, cotton, leather. Things with no natural origin are vintage or preloved items.

TIMELESS DESIGN

Longevity is the best form of sustainability. If you invest in great quality you'll own a piece of clothing or furniture that you will reach for year after year and pass down to the next generation.

LOCAL PRODUCTION

Our focus at HOUSE OF AUSTER lies on Made in Austria & Germany. We support local designers and manufacturers in order to minimize our carbon footprint. Keeping transport routes short will ultimately lower the CO2 pollution and energy consumption.

ARTISAN CRAFTSMANSHIP

We work with local guilds and artisans who share the same commitment to sustainability and quality. There are so many amazing and skilled people in our community – at HOUSE OF AUSTER we want to give them a voice and a platform.

PRELOVED AND VINTAGE

Buying pre-loved and Vintage pieces reduce carbon emissions and preserve water, energy and other resources. It also prevents more garments from ending up in landfills and reduces manual labor, where employees are subjected to unfair and dangerous working conditions and minimal pay.

PACKAGING

A lot of time and care goes into packing each piece. every item is protectively wrapped (in sustainable packaging) and packed tightly into a box. we try to use as much sustainable and natural packaging as possible.

We ship in 70% recycled (and recyclable) cardboard boxes and mailers, wrap our products in tissue paper and use either eco-friendly packaging chips or recycled bubble wrap.
